I’ve been around the Club Cal Neva Poker Room for quite a number of years now. I’ve seen its ups and its downs. I’ve seen great promotions, and we’ve even missed a few times. Not afraid to say that we’ve missed on a few promotions. After all, as our CEO says, “you can’t be afraid to try new things. If it doesn’t work, you try something different.”
But the one thing I do know, no matter how small our poker room has become, and whether there have been ups or there have been downs, it has always been the absolute friendliest poker in town. And I’ve been to them all. Win, Billy, Jordan, Bev, Jiff, Bob, Bill and the everyone else in the room have made it one of the most fun places to play in all of Reno.
The one thing that has happened though, in the recent past, is that we’ve turned in to the $10 tournament house. Now don’t get me wrong. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We love all of our players who consistently play in the $10 No Limit Hold’em Tournament. And I think we’ve proven that by giving away a $10,000 seat in the WSOP Main Event next year. But let’s face it; in order for a room to sustain itself, it HAS to run a live poker game once in a while.
So here’s what we’re going to do. We’re going to offer our players a little incentive for starting a live game on Friday nights. It can be either a 3/6 limit game or a 2/4 limit game.
- First 6 Players in a limit game (3/6 or 2/4) after the 6 p.m. tournament on Friday night will receive $50 on a $20 buy-in.
- During live play on Friday night – starting at 8 p.m. – anytime someone at the table gets their Aces cracked, $20 will automatically be splashed into the next pot.
- If that’s not enough, the poker room will also give away $200 in cash drawings. At 11:00 p.m. the room will give away $100 to one person in a live game. They’ll do it again at 11:30. Players must be in a live game to be eligible to win. One drawing ticket is given for your buy-in and players will receive one more ticket at every half hour.
- Oh, one more thing: We’ll feed you. The poker room will buy a couple of pizzas for all those involved in live play at roughly 10 p.m.
The poker room is working hard to bring live poker games back to downtown Reno. So much so, that we’re practically giving away money. So make Friday nights at the Club Cal Neva Poker Room your place to be!
